  • VHF Procedures

    PRE-ENTRY REPORT:
    The Operator, Agent or Master of a vessel bound for a port in the operational area of the VTS should report the relevant information:
    a) at least 24 h prior to arrival (72 h for tankers with dangerous cargoes or non gasfree - 48 h for tankers which are gasfree); or b) at the latest, at the time when the vessel leaves its previous port, if the voyage takes less than 24 h; or
    c) if the port of call is unknown or changes during the voyage, as soon as this information becomes available.

    PARTICIPATING VESSELS:

    This is a mandatory VTS Reporting Area (GDANREP) for the following Vessels:

    −    all passenger vessels,
    −    all vessels of 150 GT and above,
    −    all vessels, regardless of tonnage carrying dangerous or polluting goods
    −    tug boats with towed/pushed/composite units, −    vessels which due to special circumstances, present a risk of collision or of environmental pollution.

    Other vessels equipped with a VHF Radio may participate on a voluntary basis.

    REPORTING AREAS:

    The VTS Area consists of one MAIN SECTOR:
    −    VTS Centre VHF CH 71, 

    and two HARBOUR SECTORS
    −    Gdynia Port Control VHF CH 12,
    −    Gdańsk Port Control VHF CH 14.

    All vessels in any sector of the GDANREP VTS Area must maintain a permanent listening watch on the appropriate VHF Channel.

    Permission to change frequency or to end a VHF watch should be obtained.

    POSITION REPORTS:

    All vessels that are required to report (See GDA 1) must report:
    −    At the reporting points shown on the plan GDA 2.
    −    When entering the VTS MAIN SECTOR from HARBOUR SECTORS
    (outbound).
    −    Outbound when crossing the REPORTING LINE (as defined in GDA 1).


    All vessels required to report and all other vessels shall report:
    −    Prior to an attempt to cross or join a traffic lane of the TSS, if no report to VTS Centre has been made earlier.

    ARRIVAL / DEPARTURE REPORTS:
    All vessels must report
    −    Prior to entering the HARBOUR SECTOR (Inbound).
    −    Immediately after berthing or anchoring in the HARBOUR SECTOR.
    −    Immediately prior leaving the berth or anchorage in the HARBOUR SECTOR.

    GIVING: IMO SRS ITEMS: Alpha, Charlie, or Delta and additionally Oscar, Papa, Whiskey on departure from a port.
    VIA: (For Arrivals) VHF CH 12 to Gdynia Harbour Sector or VHF CH 14 to Gdańsk Harbour Sector.
            (For Departures) VHF CH 71 to Zatoka Gdańska VTS Centre.

    SPECIAL REPORTS
    A vessel engaged in special operations in the VTS area, or in the case of a group of vessels, a coordinating vessel, before operations are commenced and after the operations are completed.

    EMERGENCY REPORTS:
    All vessels shall immediately report any incident or accident which can affect safety or security, environmental protection or efficient traffic organisation.
